About Peter Canney

Peter has had an interesting exposure to various sports over his lifetime. He was a school boy swimming champion who turned to basketball and baseball as main interest sports after dabbling in athletics and grade cricket.

A devastating ankle injury and broken throwing arm meant he spent eight long months in rehabilitation. But his baseball career was permanently curtailed.

Long time friend and visiting American Basketball coach Bruce Case introduced Peter to golf. After time spent at a San Diego Golf School, Peter returned to Australia with a new sport and passion.

At the inaugural West Lakes Classic in Adelaide, South Australia, Peter was introduced to renowned International Golf Coach, the great Alex Mercer. This friendship has lasted over 30 years with Alex becoming both mentor and tournament travelling companion.

Years of back problems caused endless frustration and long breaks away from golf.

With unquestionably the best teacher in the world encouraging him, Peter embarked on an ambitious plan. To make golf simple to play and enjoyable!

In winter 2002, Peter called Alex to explain his theory. Alex not only endorsed his ideas but encouraged him to continue his exploration in this unique direction. With that endorsement, Peter set out to fully explore the theory of muscular spinal balance and a way to make it work with golf.

After 4 years of research, consulting with leading specialists in sports medicine and bio-mechanics; Peter's observations were confirmed.

Finally, a simple 4 step method had been created that golfers of all ages, body types and abilities could learn. Life long frustration free golf can now be available to all golfers in ONE lesson of 4 steps.
